Hey, How are you! I am Your Assistant for this website, Click Me to know more about how can i help you. That’s how a bot talks, but it’s not a bot because it is built to make a conversation and engage the customer. Chatbots are primarily developed to resolve the frequent issues that are faced by the users at regular intervals and engage less human customer support.
A simple and basic chatbot can resolve more than 40% of queries whereas about 20% of the time it can reach conclusive results when described more and properly. And in this article, you will come to know different chatbots that are popular and available along with how the journey of chatbots started. We will also look into Turing test which is a way of testing the smartness of the machine or if i may convey it in human terms, A way to test IQ.
Because of the growing internet, and its usage for e-commerce, daily news, and finding daily life queries, it had become important to create automated systems which could answer the queries faster and increase the business as well as retention and comeback rate of the customer to the website.
While from the research conducted, It is fair to say that there below listed names are not only the chatbots that are available but, because a chatbot needs to be highly available, responsive and more importantly solve the issue in hand rather than directing it to customer support. I have filtered out and listed some of the best chatbots that can be of use.
What Are Chatbots?
Chatbots are programmed software that is mostly used to answer frequently asked queries. But since the technology is advancing rapidly, nowadays, chatbots have advanced to recommendation bots, and they are now transforming into real bots which we know as robots.
In simple terms, a chatbot is designed to interact with humans and behave like a human is talking to a human rather than a human talking to a bot. Chatbot understands text, speech, and images also. Being programmable and self-learning chatbots have come to an extent of mimicking human behavior as well as making conversation like humans’. Coming on to the advancement of Chatbots to such an extent, was only possible with Artificial intelligence.
While a Chatbot does not depend on AI, it mostly depends on Deep learning algorithms, Machine learning models, and Artificial Intelligence of Computer Vision as well as Image Processing. So a chatbot is a good example of the combination of AI, ML, and DL.
As we have learned about chatbots, let’s look at the history of Chatbots and we will take a look at the Turing test.
History of Chatbots –
ELIZA – The First Chatbot to be created was ELIZA in the 1960s, Which was developed by Joseph Weizenbaum. It was based on targetting the keywords and responding by using a set of rules.
PARRY – was then the next bot, which was developed in 1972, to stimulate a person with paranoid schizophrenia. It was another level of advancement but failed to pass the Turing test.
Jabberwacky – Developed in 1988, the bot aimed to convert the natural conversation of humans into an entertaining way. It used AI technology named contextual pattern matching.
DR. Sbaisto, Created for Ms-Dos in 1992, is known for its voice-operated chatbot.
ALICE, ULP (Universal language processing) bot which is used to make conversation based on the heuristic pattern matching. It was developed in 1995.
Smartchild, Developed in the year 2001, carries out fun conversations quickly which a quick access rate.
And since then AI was started introduced and advancements never stopped creating self-learning bots. SIRI (2010), GOOGLE NOW (2012), WIT.AI (2013), CORTANA (2015), API.AI (2015), ALEXA (2015), GOOGLE HOME (2016).
Turing Test –
It is a computer’s intelligence test, which says that humans should not be able to distinguish between the machine from any other human being. This test was given by Alan Turing in the 1950s’ and still in 2022, this test continues. The Turing test is the ability of the machine to think if the machine can think like a human (known as Human Intelligence).
Where are some top-rated Chatbots of 2022?
According to sources available on the internet and official sources, MobileMonkey, Meya AI, Landbot, Aivo, Hubspot, netomi, x.ai, Atspoke, Microsoft Bot framework, Salesforce Einstein, and Alexa for Business. These are some of the best and top-rated bots available which allow Business growth by 5 times more queries solved while some of the Chatbots claim that their success rate is up to 67 – 70% means that from 1,000,000 Queries around 70,000 Questions are answered by Chatbots itself. Whereas the remaining 30,000 are answered by Customer support. And all this just because one day someone thought why not include AI, in automated software to increase their efficiencies.
Conclusion –
As we have reached the end of our discussion, I would like to point out a few things. Firstly, creating advanced robots is good, in many ways but what if rather than taking orders they start to give them? What if scary movie scenes get true, What if the human race can get destroyed with the advancement in robotics? These are some questions that one should always ask. Though advanced robots do have a lot of benefits and to be honest, 100 times more benefits than disadvantages. So, I will leave you with these questions to find answers on your own and I will meet you next time.
